Create these tall, delicate trees by wrapping the top of a foam cone with cardstock to create a true point (the tops are flat), then cover the cone in clear plastic wrap. Knot a piece of green embroidery floss around the top, then wrap it around the cone in a crisscross pattern. (To make shorter trees, stop wrapping before you get to the bottom of the cone.)Apply 2 coats of Mod Podge Stiffy (available at craft stores) to the floss; once dry and hardened, remove the plastic wrap and cone. Glue on gems to add sparkle.

What youll need:Green embroidery floss ($7;amazon.com); Foam cone ($5,amazon.com)

Decorate your tree one day at a time with this charming Advent calendar. Cover a 21 x 24 foam board in fabric and secure at the back with hot glue. Hang store-bought manila tags in rows from straight pins and add your own ornaments. To mark each date, punch holes in wood craft circles, stamp on numbers and hang above the ornaments so little fingers know whats ready for the tree.

Oh, what fun it is to make these adorable tree trimmings! Use them to decorate a branchor a shelf or window.

What youll need:Green yarn ($4;amazon.com)

Greet guests with magical decor! Nest a 14 embroidery hoop inside an 18 one and

attach with strong tape at the clasps. Cover the tape with a loop of wide ribbon (youll use it for hanging later). Secure faux greenery, white berries and glittery ornaments along the bottom of the hoops with thin green floral wire. Create the fairy door from an 8 x 4 piece of balsa wood: First, trace an upside-down cereal bowl to make a rounded top, cut out with scissors, and use a brown pen and a ruler to draw vertical lines for wood slats. Punch a metal paper fastener through the wood for a doorknob and hot-glue miniature hinges on the opposite side. Attach twine or thin rope around the outside of the door, then use hot glue to secure it to the inner hoop.

What youll need:Green floral wire ($5;amazon.com)

Swap the glitz for old-timey touches like aFabric Wreathand a bowl ofString Snowballs. Cut fabric into leaf shapes and paint with white glue thinned with water to the consistency of heavy cream. Let dry, then staple the stiffened leaves to a cardboard ring. Shape extra leaves into poinsettias fastened with a center brad. To make the balls, tie thin red and white bakers twine around the knot of a fist-size balloon; wrap the string crisscross around the balloon until covered. Paint with the thinned glue mixture and let dry overnight; pop and remove the balloon.

What youll need:White twine ($9;amazon.com)

The 12 days of Christmas become 24 with an adorable Advent calendar that shares the generosity of the season from December 1 through Christmas Eve. Wrap 24 matchboxes with playful gift or craft paper, keeping the sides uncovered so the bottoms can slide in and out. Decorate each box with stickers, stamps and hand-drawn designs, using crayons, yarn, buttons and labels for numbers. Thumbtack the boxes to a corkboard and tuck tiny gifts and goodies inside.

What youll need:Matchboxes ($11;amazon.com)

To turn store-bought bows into a jolly wreath, first attach a loop of floral wire (for hanging) around a 16Styrofoam wreath form. Then, hot-glue gift bows to the front and sides of the form. Keep it festive with a classic red-and-white combo or mix in powder blue for a wintry look.

What youll need:Plastic bows ($10;amazon.com)

Every year I try to do something creative and different gets difficult as the years go by! I love all of these, except for the armed family.
